What makes Kkeut Clinic's Er:YAG Fraxel different?
Using Er:YAG laser instead of CO2 laser:
CO2 lasers penetrate deep into the skin but carry a risk of strong thermal damage and hyperpigmentation.
Er:YAG Fraxel is a system designed to precisely reach from the epidermis to the dermal-epidermal junction while minimizing thermal damage.
Customized parameter adjustment for each individual's skin:
We delicately adjust the depth and intensity of the treatment, taking into account the patient's skin type and condition.
For example, we create an individualized optimal treatment plan, applying lower power multiple times for thin skin and higher power once for thicker skin.
Precision of treatment through the use of overlap technique:
For specific areas of concern such as fine lines, scars, or enlarged pores, the laser can be applied multiple times (overlapped) to precisely adjust the treatment intensity.
Treatment is also possible for fine lines on areas like the back of the hands and neck due to aging. These areas are typically challenging to treat, but we proceed with individual settings that consider skin regeneration speed and sebaceous gland density.
Enhancing Fraxel effects with skin booster delivery technique:
Immediately after Fraxel treatment, micro-channels are formed in the skin.
At our clinic, we have developed a protocol that utilizes these channels to effectively deliver skin booster ingredients to the dermis.
Considering deep scars in problem areas or differences in skin thickness across different areas, we customize the degree of overlap and intensity to open pathways for ingredient delivery down to the dermal-epidermal junction.
By combining skin boosters with small particles, such as PDRN or Juvelook, active ingredients can be absorbed through these channels to the dermis, which is crucial for regeneration. This can help improve pores, fine lines, and acne scars.
What is Fraxel treatment?
Fraxel, derived from 'Fractional', is a technique that applies laser energy in a fractional pattern with microscopic spacing, rather than stimulating the entire skin surface.
This creates tiny micro-channels in the skin, and this stimulation helps induce the skin's natural regeneration process.
This method of inducing partial damage can contribute to overall skin improvement while reducing the skin's recovery period.
Ablative Fraxel vs. Non-Ablative Fraxel
Ablative Fraxel microscopically removes the epidermis and delivers energy to the dermal-epidermal junction, directly aiming to improve skin texture, wrinkles, and pigmentation. A certain recovery period may be required after the procedure.
Non-ablative Fraxel delivers thermal energy to the dermis while preserving the epidermis. Recovery may be faster, but the range of expected effects may be relatively limited.
The Er:YAG Fraxel used at Kkeut Clinic is an ablative laser.
Principle of Er:YAG Fraxel Operation
Er:YAG Fraxel belongs to the ablative laser family and specifically utilizes a 2940nm wavelength, which reacts well with water.
This wavelength precisely vaporizes and removes tissue from the epidermis to the dermal-epidermal junction. This characteristic allows for accurate depth control, minimal thermal damage to surrounding tissue, and aids in faster recovery.
Because it removes tissue through a water explosion method without burning surrounding tissue, it can help reduce concerns about hyperpigmentation and lighten the burden of the procedure.
Difference between DOE and MLA methods
Fraxel's energy delivery methods are broadly divided into DOE (Diffractive Optical Element) and MLA (Microlens Array) methods. The DOE method delivers energy uniformly to all points, allowing for stable treatment. However, its output intensity is limited, so the practitioner's skilled technique is crucial when treating scars.
On the other hand, the MLA method is characterized by strong energy concentration in the central part and weaker energy in the surrounding areas. While this may be suitable for improving deep scars, excessive energy concentration in specific areas can potentially lead to a longer recovery period.
Expected Effects of Er:YAG Fraxel
Kkeut Clinic's Er:YAG Fraxel utilizes the DOE method,
focusing on delivering energy evenly across the entire skin while minimizing potential discomfort during treatment.
This method can help improve pores, fine lines, and skin texture, and in cases of acne scars, improvement can be expected by applying the overlap technique.
Induces collagen and elastin regeneration: It helps improve skin thickness and elasticity by reorganizing damaged skin and activating fibroblasts in the dermis. This can result in skin feeling smoother and firmer.
Contributes to pore contraction: As the fibrous tissue around the pores is reorganized, pores may contract, and the skin surface may appear more refined.
Acne scar remodeling: Existing scar tissue is gradually broken down and replaced with new collagen tissue, contributing to improved skin texture.
Academic Research on Er:YAG Fraxel
Serdar ZA et al. Dermatol Ther. 2019:
A study involving 333 patients with facial and neck wrinkles
Research shows that 3-4 sessions of Erbium YAG Fraxel can help improve skin texture, wrinkles, and pigmentation.
Robati RM et al., J Cosmet Dermatol. 2020:
It may be suitable for patients looking to improve enlarged pores or fine wrinkles on the face.
Even with just one session, you can experience improvement in fine wrinkles.
Receiving 3 or more sessions can prolong the duration of effects, and you can also expect pore-minimizing benefits.
A Sincere Message from the Chief Director
Every day, I encounter countless patients' skin, experiencing unique skin characteristics and varying conditions in each individual.
Fraxel treatment is not merely about the equipment. We meticulously assess the skin condition on the day of treatment and delicately adjust the laser output and depth down to 0.1 units.
With this mindset, we approach every treatment session. We strive to perform procedures more accurately and safely.
We believe that the true results of Fraxel are perfected not by the equipment, but by the skilled hands of the practitioner.
We will always do our best to provide careful and dedicated treatments to meet the expectations of those who visit our clinic.

Treatment Procedure
- STEP 01. Personalized Consultation
- STEP 02. Anesthetic Cream Application
- STEP 03. Fraxel Laser Treatment
- STEP 04. Post-Treatment Soothing Care
Post-Treatment Precautions
- ㆍRefrain from washing your face and applying makeup on the day of the procedure. Light cleansing is possible from the next day.
- ㆍAfter the procedure, tip marks, redness, and pain may persist for about 7 days. During this time, cooling care with an ice pack can be helpful.
- ㆍSince Fraxel is a type of laser resurfacing treatment, it is best not to forcibly remove the dead skin cells that appear around 3-4 days after the procedure, but rather let them shed naturally.
- ㆍIt is recommended to avoid alcohol, smoking, saunas, public baths, and swimming pools until all the dead skin cells have exfoliated.
- ㆍThe period from immediately after the procedure until 1-2 weeks after exfoliation is when skin regeneration is active, so it is important to consistently apply a regenerating ointment.
- ㆍPay special attention to moisturizing care for skin soothing, and always apply sunscreen thoroughly when going outdoors.

Q&A
고객님들이 가장 많이 물어보시는 내용을 모았습니다.
Is Fraxel treatment very painful?
Before the treatment, we apply a numbing cream to alleviate the burden of pain. Immediately after the procedure, you may experience a burning sensation for about one to two days.
When do scabs form / How long does peeling last?
About 3-4 days after the treatment, tiny scabs will begin to form. Around one week, the dead skin cells will naturally start to peel off, and typically, the scabs will completely shed over 1-2 weeks. Due to the nature of ablative laser treatment, which regenerates the skin, temporary redness may appear and usually tends to improve within 1-2 weeks. This can vary by individual.
How long does the redness last?
Generally, redness after the procedure subsides within 1-2 weeks. However, if your skin is sensitive or dry, or if your nutritional status is poor, skin regeneration may slow down, and redness may persist for a longer period.
Can I wash my face and apply makeup after the treatment?
It is recommended not to wash your face or apply makeup on the day you receive Fraxel treatment. From the next day, you can gently wash your face and apply makeup.
What is the treatment cycle?
Treatments are typically performed 3 to 5 times, usually at 4-week intervals. After that, receiving treatment once every 3-6 months can help maintain the management effect. This may vary depending on individual skin condition, so it is important to consult with a specialist.
When do the effects appear?
Collagen regeneration begins approximately 2-3 weeks after the treatment. After about one month, you can expect your skin to feel more elastic. If your skin concerns are significant, it is recommended to consider 3 or more sessions for sufficient improvement. Effects may vary by individual.
