Customized Dual Laser Treatment for Lesions



*Moles are lesions that appear due to an excessive accumulation of melanin pigment in the epidermal or dermal layers of the skin.

Even if they appear to be the same type of mole, treatment methods can vary depending on their depth and location.

The Erbium-YAG laser is advantageous for precisely abrading the skin surface. When treating shallow moles located in the epidermis, it helps remove the lesion while minimizing irritation to surrounding tissues.

It is widely used for facial mole removal as it reduces the risk of scarring after treatment and allows for natural skin improvement. Subsequently, precisely cauterizing the root of the mole with a CO2 laser can help eliminate any melanin cells that may remain deep within. This contributes to reducing the possibility of 'recurrent moles' that reappear from the root even after the surface has been cleared.

CO2 laser finishing may be particularly necessary in the following cases:

-If the mole is slightly raised above the surface or has a thick texture when touched

-If you have experienced moles reappearing in the same spot previously

-If it appears to be a nevus (mole) located deep in the dermal layer, such as a blue mole or a grayish-brown mole


*Flat warts are viral skin diseases caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. They spread widely in the epidermal layer and appear as thin, flat, brown or skin-colored small lesions to the naked eye. They are prone to occur when immunity is weakened and can spread to other areas by self-touching, so prompt action is recommended.

The Erbium-YAG laser is used to uniformly remove epidermal lesions. It is particularly effective for flat warts spread over a large area,

helping to clear them all at once. It allows for even removal of lesions while minimizing irritation to surrounding skin. However, due to the nature of viral diseases, there is a possibility of recurrence if only the superficial lesions are removed. In such cases, finishing the treatment with a CO2 laser by applying subtle thermal stimulation around the lesion can help cauterize hidden virus-infected cells in and around the epidermal layer, thereby reducing the likelihood of recurrence.

CO2 laser finishing may be even more important in the following cases:

-If the lesion's borders are unclear and it feels widely spread when touched -Individuals with weakened immunity due to stress or lack of sleep

-If you have experienced multiple recurrences of flat warts

-If the lesions are in areas that are frequently touched or can easily spread, such as hands or face


*Milia are small, white cysts that form when keratin, a skin protein, becomes trapped beneath the skin. They are commonly observed around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead, and unlike sebaceous cysts, they are cosmetic lesions unrelated to infection or inflammation.

The Erbium-YAG laser is highly effective for milia removal. It precisely shaves off the skin's surface to remove the thin covering of the milium and opens a pathway for the trapped keratin to be easily expelled. A subsequent light cauterization with a CO2 laser can help reduce the possibility of remaining keratinocytes re-proliferating and prevent recurrent milia in the same area. However, excessive thermal stimulation to the skin can cause hyperpigmentation, requiring delicate intensity control.

CO2 laser finishing is particularly recommended in the following cases:

-If milia repeatedly reappear in the same area

-If you have experienced lesions reappearing during the recovery process after treatment

-If you desire a more even result during recovery after removing multiple milia


*Syringomas are benign skin lesions caused by the abnormal proliferation of sweat glands (eccrine glands) in the dermal layer of the skin. They typically appear as small, bead-like lesions in multiple areas such as under the eyes, on the cheeks, and forehead. They are often genetically influenced or frequently found in women in their 20s and 30s.

The Erbium-YAG laser is used for treating syringomas in sensitive areas like around the eyes, as it can thinly and delicately remove the epidermis. It refines the skin surface and carefully removes the upper part of the sweat gland lesions, reducing the burden of scarring or pigmentation after recovery, allowing for satisfactory results. Subsequently, applying heat with a CO2 laser

The finishing process, which involves subtle stimulation deep within the lesion, helps weaken the excessive activity of sweat glands in the dermal layer,

and can have a clinically positive effect in preventing syringomas from reappearing in the same area. However, due to the depth of the lesions, multiple treatment sessions may be required.

In the following situations, combining CO2 laser finishing may be even more effective:

-If multiple syringomas are deeply formed under the eyes or on the cheeks

-If you have undergone laser treatment multiple times in the past but experienced recurrence

-If you wish to enhance the recurrence prevention effect with a single treatment


*Skin tags are benign lesions caused by an excessive proliferation of fibrous tissue and blood vessels in the dermal layer. They commonly occur in areas where skin folds, such as the neck, armpits, under the breasts, and eyelids, appearing as small, skin-colored protrusions. They are usually painless but can become irritated by friction. CO2 lasers are generally widely used for skin tag removal due to their cutting ability and hemostatic effect, allowing for quick removal of multiple lesions. However, for small and thin skin tags, first precisely shaving off the lesion with an Erbium-YAG laser, then cauterizing the root with a CO2 laser, can be beneficial. This can help remove the root tissue of the skin tag and reduce the likelihood of recurrence in that area. Thermal stimulation can have advantages in destroying fibrous cells and microvessels within the tissue, inhibiting the regeneration environment.

Particularly, combining CO2 laser finishing is recommended in the following cases:

-If skin tags occur in areas with frequent friction, such as the neck or armpits

-If you have experienced skin tags reappearing in the same spot after removal

-If the root of the lesion is deep or wide, potentially leaving a thick mark even after removal


As such, tailored to the depth and characteristics of the lesion,

How long should I use DuoDERM (sticker) after mole removal?





Mole removal procedures carefully treat the superficial layer of the skin, which may result in subtle changes to the treated area.

Therefore, it is crucial to protect and manage the treated area well after the procedure.


Maintaining a moist environment, especially on the treated area, can aid skin regeneration and reduce the possibility of scarring.

For this reason, we recommend applying a hydrocolloid moist dressing, also known as DuoDERM.


DuoDERM helps maintain optimal moisture levels on the wound, aiding the growth of new skin and reducing unnecessary scab formation, thereby lowering the risk of scarring.


It is recommended to apply DuoDERM immediately after mole removal, replace it every 3-5 days, and continue management for at least one week.

The total management period is approximately 10 days.


If using DuoDERM causes discomfort or an allergic reaction, you should manage the area using other methods. Apply a regeneration cream or moisturizing gel frequently to prevent the treated area from drying out. Additionally, it is important to apply sunscreen with SPF 50 or higher diligently and avoid touching the treated area as much as possible.


Post-mole removal care is a crucial step that goes beyond simply protecting the wound and can also affect the outcome of the procedure.

If proper care is not provided, there is a possibility of scarring, so it is advisable to continue paying close attention even after the procedure.
